The Database Developer will be a key position to assist in growing Premier into a data driven environment. This position will create and maintain a foundation for an agile, data driven, regulated environment and is integral in the design and implementation of new programs, integrations and reporting platforms. The role of the Database Developer is to:


  • Work with cross departmental analysts and management team for requirements gathering, design specifications and creation of user friendly and efficient end user reporting and data maintenance tools. This includes input into business process changes to ensure accurate results are achievable within self-service reporting tools.
  • Design, build and manage data warehouses and dashboards with numerous internal and external datasets
  • EDI / on-line order integration with enterprise systems and website, including on-going system management and support
  • Move legacy systems and databases into new reporting tools / formats
  • Ensure data quality, performance and validation (CSV) expectations are met in enterprise and custom applications
  • Create workflows through SQL processes and third party programs for business and data automation
  • Conduct database maintenance and administration
  • Maintain, expand, and administer existing SQL and MS Access databases with VBA/GUI interfaces while planning/executing redesign for future growth
  • Perform various operational data projects as required
  • Develop and maintain a data integration/security strategy
  • Assist in creation of user policies and training/support to end users
  • Maintain change control, ensure development methodologies include the steps, activities, and deliverables required to achieve high quality, relevant end user data allowing future growth
  • Execute audits to ensure requirements are consistently met for proper data management, output performance, legal, regulatory and security/validation.
  • Develop and enforce validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality, and accuracy at the point of entry
  • Actively contribute in projects for the implementation and use of companywide reporting programs, integration tools and systems.
  • Design, test, and document all new and existing processes
  • Troubleshoot reporting tools, systems, and software
  • Performance-tune and conduct SQL administration
  • Backup support for the Business Analyst/Applications Specialist

 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (business or technical)
  • 5+ years direct work experience with developing SQL and MS Access database projects and reporting tools
  • Hands on SQL, T-SQL, XML and vba programming skills
  • Experience in data modeling, database design and well versed with SQL server best practices
  • Comprehensive data analysis and report design experience with the ability to identify areas where input mechanisms need analysis to achieve the desired end results
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, MS Access (including form/report development with VBA)
  • Experience with SSRS and Crystal Reports
  • Strong ability to analyze business requirements and provide relevant business tools in an agile environment
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices.
  • Full project management and development life cycle experience.
  • Experience with MS Great Plains Dynamics, MS CRM, EDI, eOne SmartConnect with Node builder and/or Scribe a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional conceptual and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
